For the endlessly curious

One world. Infinite discovery.

WORLD EXPLORER 3D is an interactive atlas for curious travelers, students and anyone who wants a new perspective on our extraordinary planet.

WORLD EXPLORER 3D

Explore our world.
Discover the extraordinary.

A place where geography becomes an experience. From a country’s cultural identity to the quiet drama of a distant planet, follow your curiosity and discover how much there is to see.

Begin your exploration

Exploration, not simulation

A real WebGL globe and interactive geographic map. Search, rotate, select a location and calculate great-circle distances.

Clarity about our sources

Metadata, historical estimates, current model feeds, sample readings and AI-generated text are labeled so you know what you’re looking at.

Built for your device

Rendering resolution is capped, hidden tabs pause Earth rendering, and reduced-motion preferences are respected. No account is required.

Sources & responsible exploration

Country metadata is bundled from world-countries. Low-resolution boundaries and fallback historical population estimates come from Natural Earth. Population and land-only area are also requested from the World Bank, with each figure’s reference year displayed. Some country entries represent territories; boundary depictions are illustrative and do not take a position on disputes.

Earth imagery is distributed with three-globe. Weather and worldwide city geocoding are requested from Open-Meteo through a server function. Earthquake records come from USGS. Each successfully loaded feed displays its retrieval or source-update time.

Space models use rounded NASA reference values. Except Earth’s composite imagery, planetary textures are illustrative. Orbital spacing, sizes, solar position and animation are not scientific ephemerides.

Travel-guide responses use the app’s built-in AI without live web search. Conversations last only for the current session and are not saved as travel records.

Questions before you set off

Is the Earth really interactive 3D?

Yes. Earth is rendered in WebGL with Three.js through react-globe.gl. Drag to rotate, pinch or scroll to zoom, and select country outlines or location pins.

Is the weather live?

When its request succeeds, the weather panel shows current model conditions and forecasts from Open-Meteo with a timestamp. Before a response or if the service is unavailable, any illustrative readings are clearly marked Demo data.

Can I see real 3D buildings or Street View?

The current map includes working city coordinates and globe navigation. Actual building tiles and street imagery require enabling and connecting a supported external mapping provider. The Maps page contains setup guidance.

Can I rely on this site for hazard warnings?

No. This is an educational exploration site, not an emergency-warning, navigation or travel-safety service. Consult the responsible local authority and official observatories.

How do I deploy this project?

The project uses React, TypeScript and Vite. Install dependencies, run the Vite development command, and build the frontend with npm run build. Deploy in GenMB to use built-in AI and the included server function. The README explains external hosting and provider licensing.
